  • Client Name: Midwest City High School History Center

  • Location: Midwest City, Oklahoma

  • Industry: Museum / Historical Preservation

  • Project Date: Completed August 28, 2024

Project Overview

The Midwest City History Center, home to the Bomber: Midwest City’s Vietnam Memorial Exhibit, houses decades of carefully preserved historical documents, images, and personal stories from the local community. With such a vast collection, the museum faced a challenge—how to make its archives more accessible and engaging for visitors in a digital age.

Challenges & Goals

The primary goal of this project was to modernize the visitor experience by introducing an interactive and intuitive display system that would allow guests to explore decades of Midwest City’s history with ease. The museum sought a solution that was not only functional but also visually immersive and easy to manage for staff.

Solutions & Implementation

To meet these needs, ImageNet Consulting designed and installed a dual-sided interactive kiosk system powered by Wallboard, a cloud-based content management platform.

The system featured:

  • Planar URP-49T Touch Displays integrated into a Chief dual-sided free-standing kiosk structure, offering interactive access from both sides of the exhibit.

  • Wallboard Content Management System, allowing staff to easily upload, edit, and organize multimedia content, historical data, and visitor information in real time.

Working closely with the Wallboard Content Creation Team, the museum curated decades of archival material into a visually dynamic and user-friendly experience. Every piece of content—from wartime photographs to personal letters—was thoughtfully formatted for accessibility and interactivity.

This partnership ensured that historical accuracy was preserved while bringing a new level of engagement and storytelling to the museum’s visitors.

Results & Impact

The new interactive kiosk immediately transformed how visitors experienced the History Center. What once required guided tours and physical displays could now be explored through a touch-driven digital archive that tells Midwest City’s story through words, images, and video.

Key Outcomes:

  • Visitors can now browse decades of history at their own pace through an engaging and interactive interface.

  • The museum staff can easily update or add new exhibits through the Wallboard CMS, keeping the content fresh and relevant.

  • The dual-sided kiosk design improved visitor flow and increased accessibility during busy events and educational tours.

The installation successfully blended tradition with technology—bridging the gap between historical preservation and digital innovation.

Client Feedback

The Midwest City History Center’s Interactive Kiosk Project stands as an excellent example of how technology can enhance cultural preservation. By integrating state-of-the-art hardware with a powerful content management platform, ImageNet Consulting helped the museum create a lasting, interactive exhibit that ensures the stories of Midwest City’s past remain accessible for generations to come.
